Using HTML - Page 4 - CSS Basics - Learning to build your own website from scratch

July 28th, 2007

Please note that this is part of a series:
«« First  « Previous (Page 3)

Page 1 through 3 explained the basics of HTML using the XHTML1.0 Transitional DocType. Page 4 will focus on CSS specific XHTML elements. First we’ll talk about the <link> element, the <style> element, and the style attribute. Next we’ll talk about the <div> and <span> elements, used to group sections of the page for use with CSS. Finally we’ll explain the classes and IDs used in a CSS sheet, and discuss the order in which CSS is applied.

Site updates and fixes

July 25th, 2007

First off, I removed the monthly archive links. Never could think of a reason why anyone might want to search the archives by month - or any date, really. In my eyes they were simply taking up valuable screen space. If you want to look for something, either use the describing category, or use the search box. Not really any content here benefiting from - or even warranting a - time-based archive listing.

Using HTML - Page 3 - Attributes - Learning to build your own website from scratch

July 24th, 2007

Please note that this is part of a series:
«« First  « Previous (Page 2) - Next (Page 4) »

Where Page 1 explained the very basics, Page 2 explained the most common elements. In Page 3 of this series, we’ll explore the  attributes of the common elements - those listed in Page 2. At the end of this page, you should be able to make a barebone website: it might not be the prettiest, but it’ll be fully functional.

Page layouts updated: pc/b, pc/c

July 23rd, 2007

If you’ve read Page layouts updated: pc/a, you know I’m pretty hesitant about recoding 583 (just over 500 left now), knowing it may well be time wasted. Still, as it stands, I’m undecided about how to progress the site (leaning towards blog, but unsure still). I just redid Vandaele.us and I think it looks sweet, so naturally I’m excited about doing something similar for GameSphere.com. Needless to say it’s impossible with both the old and new format, but if they all have one single, same format it would be a helluva lot easier to adapt all the pages so that it would be possible.

Anyway, all the PC Games B and PC Games C have both been standardized. Damn that’s a lot of extraordinarily boring work…

Complete revamp

July 23rd, 2007

The entire Vandaele.us website has been redesigned. All areas now come with proper information, the homepage lists the privacy policy, the layout was redone using the YouHaveChosen.Us neutral layout as a template, Track0 page has additional information as well as screenshots (including a screenshot of the invisible mode… :D ) and the Track0 counter (tracking the page, not the one for download) has been nicely integrated into the footer. I can’t wait to do something similar for GameSphere.com, but first that needs the old pages to conform with the new system (wouldn’t be pretty with half a pretty gray site and half a not-so-pretty blue site). Anyway, I like the new Vandaele.us
