Website says: Please make sure you’re connected to the internet

So now that I have my brand spanking new PC (and managed to install Vista after several days of torture), I decided to install Windows Live Messenger. Like it or no, you can’t pick what your friends use…

During installation I ran into a little hickup. Midway I got a nice little, polite message claiming “Sorry, this is taking a bit longer than we expected”. Always nice to see software with good manners. However a bit later I got the message that the install had failed (no doubt because of any of the other two installers and/or windows update (which had one update fail as well because of this) were also running). No biggie, but I decided to find out why, which is when it led me here.

“If you aren’t connected to the Internet, you won’t be able to download products.” … So they’re putting this advice on an ONLINE website. I’m connected to their website (through the internet, if you hadn’t guessed), and they’re suggesting we check whether we can connect to websites. I’ll file this under “Your PC won’t work? Is the power cord plugged in?” and “Keyboard not found. Press F1 to continue.”
