Page layouts updated: pc/a
All the PC games starting with an A have had their layouts updated. I was going to do more, but then I stopped myself. Perhaps I should convert that part (or all) of GameSphere to either a blog or a wiki. A blog has obvious advantages - besides everything being automatic, it also supports multiple authors. The downsides are they would be hard to search (unless you put everything - reviews, hints, cheats, screenshots, … - all on one page), and it would be even harder to contain all the info to any given game. What bothers me most though, is that it only supports one author per page. If I post 4 cheats to a game, and you add 7 more, you wouldn’t get any credit. Creating two pages with cheats is just retarded, so I could only hope that wouldn’t be encouraged… It might also be hard to find authors, since I’d have to personally give you unrestricted access. I’m paranoid, so not quite comfortable with that idea. Still, a blog is a good prospect despite all of this.
A wiki is another solution with many choices for software - that I wouldn’t have to modify or update, except on the server once an update is released. The problem is that wiki’s are -in my experience- typically more vague than to the point, not that well organized (even if it’s got a good search function), and the big plus -anyone can post (if you allow it)- is also a big minus - anyone can post. You could moderate it, but that’s practically as much work as posting it yourself (okay, not quite, but a lot of work depending on how well you verify the information and so on). I’m not too keen on a wiki, to be honest.
Anyway, that’s why I did so little converting. Yes, if I could automate the conversion from a singular format (which the static pages aren’t now - they were made a very long time ago, and are even doing stuff like using the deprecated <font> tag and not closing tags like <li> or <p>), then it would still be worth my time. However if I’d have to manually enter the text anyway, why bother converting it in the first place?
